Sony will make PlayStation games for smartphones

Sony has established Forward Works, a company that will create games for mobile devices, including smartphones. The games are based on existing PlayStation titles.

Forward Works is going to make games that are meant for Android and iOS. For this use will be made of existing PlayStation titles and the corresponding characters. Consider, for example, Crash Bandicoot, Nathan Drake in the Uncharted games or Kratos from the God of War series.

In addition, Forward Works is building a new network or service for mobile devices. What the service exactly is unclear, but it is expected that further develops the company's PlayStation Network for the mobile market. Sony reports that Forward Works starts on 1 April and focused on the smartphone market in Japan and Asia. Whether the game will soon also be available in Europe, is unclear.

Sony smartphone games are not new

Sony previously tried to get a grip on the market for smartphone games. As brought out the Xperia Play in 2011, an Android smartphone with a gamepad which exclusive PlayStation titles could be played. However, due to the disappointing sales has never published a sequel to this unit.
